Mea first walked through the doors of Free Fall when she was just 14 or 15 years old. Her brother was into skating, so she decided to come check it out.
And she never left.
“I fell in love with the place, I fell in love with all the people. I’ve had all the same friends since, they’ve all been my biggest supporters. This place has given me a lot of stability over the years.”
Five years ago, Mea became part of the Free Fall staff. Today, she gets to be part of the same community that meant so much to her as a young person.
And one of her favorite things? Watching the kids grow up.
“Some of them started down here, and now some of them are taller than I am. It’s just great to me that I get to work with a lot of the same people, see people grow, and be a part of their lives.”
Meet Mea
How did you get involved with Free Fall?
I started skating at the original Main Street Skatepark back in 2003. It was that environment that inspired me to pick up a camera. Years later, I got involved as a volunteer creating videos for the park.
How did Free Fall Inspire your faith?
I have been inspired by the perseverance and trust required to turn Pastor Dave’s dream into a reality. It’s that trust in a higher power that made the project possible!
What does life look like because of Free Fall’s influence?
I’ve been able to follow my dream of becoming a filmmaker. Pipe Dream was my first documentary, and it would not have been possible without Free Fall’s support and belief in me.
Where is he now?
I’m continuing to freelance as I search for my next major project. You can catch me skating at the park most Thursday nights!
